Description

Pulsar Helion XQ50 is an observation imager with a very high range at a resolution of 384×288 pixels. The combination of a relatively inexpensive microbolometer with a 50mm light-sensitive lens allows you to detect large objects at distances up to 1800 meters. In this respect, the Helion XQ50 matches the best constructions of this type at a fairly favorable price. Despite the standard image resolution, quite high magnification helps to identify the target, which even without the use of digital zoom is 4.1x and can be digitally increased to 8.2x and 16.4x. The device was built based on a new hardware platform, common for Helion thermal imagers and Trail sights. Innovative electronics allow image processing in a more efficient way, with lower noise than in the equipment produced so far, all Helions are equipped with an image recorder.

Helion series Imagers are designed for observing terrain over long distances. Individual models differ primarily in the lenses and the type of microbolometer used, which results in different image resolutions and differences in range. The best models of the Helion series allow you to detect a person at a distance of almost two kilometers and operate with a resolution of 640×480 pixels. A characteristic element in Helion Imagers is a dedicated 5.2 Ah battery mounted on the side of the housing. These batteries are easily replaceable, it is possible to purchase additional batteries (including batteries with twice the capacity) which in practice solves problems with power supply in the field. The second characteristic element is the heat sink that dissipates heat from electronic systems, which has a significant impact on reducing the noise of the observed image.

All Helions have rich image processing options. It is possible to precisely adjust the brightness and contrast as well as the use of one of seven color palettes. The XQ versions have a digital zoom switched into a cycle of 1x, 2x, 4x, as well as smoothly in steps of 0.1x. The image can be calibrated manually as well as thanks to the automatic image analysis algorithm. In addition, there are three predefined modes to choose from that group the best settings for different work environments.

Helion Imagers are equipped with several technological innovations. These devices have a simple to use image recorder that allows you to take pictures and record videos. The files are stored in the internal memory of the device with a capacity of 8 Gb. The Imager has a USB socket for transferring recorded files from the internal memory to a computer. What’s more, this socket can be used for power supply using standard 5V power banks. Lovers of new technologies will be pleasantly surprised by the possibility of viewing the image on mobile devices using the StreamVision application. The image and control commands are transmitted thanks to the WiFi network created by the Imager. Connecting to the Imager via WiFi, we can access not only the observed image but also to the device control functions.

The distance is measured using a stadia parametric rangefinder that allows you to assess the distance to targets of known sizes. All Helion series Imagers are relatively small, solidly built and adapted to work in difficult weather conditions. They are waterproof constructions, operating at temperatures from -25 to +50 degrees.
